WHEN & WHERE: Starting in May 2009, the Renegades meet on the SECOND THURSDAY of every month at Bentley Commons (1604 Graves Mill Road). We should have this date and location locked in for the year! However, things can (and do) change, so check the Events Calendar!
WHO: The Blue Gray Renegades ARE THE Ultimate local chapter of the International Plastic Modelers Society. The Renegades began their modeling rampage in 1997 when several superior builders from Lynchburg finally got a clue and threw off the shackles of bondage to the Roanoke Chapter(not to mention saving millions of dollars worth of gasoline). From those humble beginnings we have grown to 26 members. Our members cover all aspects of the modeling world. We build cars, planes, tanks, ships, science fiction, space, etc. If it is made of plastic, someone will build it. Our skill levels run from novice to expert.
WHAT: What do you mean "What"? We build models, and darn fine ones too!
Our name, Blue/Gray Renegades is derived from our true nature as renegades. We like to have fun, enjoy the hobby and you know, make new friends. The Blue/Gray part comes from our pride in living in the greatest state in the nation, whos son's have fought bravely over two centuries to secure our freedom. So to honor those heroic men we wear their colors, lest we forget.
We also put on an amazing annual extraviganza (translate:contest) known as the Box Stock Rock!, which must be experienced to be believed. More information on that event is on the site!
